Butterick 5605
I finally made something for me, i had a wedding to go to and decided the morning of, to make something to wear that evening, i finished it just in time to get ready!
i really love how it turned out, though i did change a few things,
I shortened the sleeves, i dont like long short sleeves, i added a couple pleats to the front of the skirt, and make it a sweetheart neckline. I cut the ties in the back separately and I had to piece the skirt because i had about 1 yard less than the pattern said i needed. It went together easily though just had to take it in a bit at the shoulder seams and the sides.
I will be using the same pattern for a wedding dress soon and i'll be posting pictures of that when i get it going :-)

What size is that dress I making one in size 14 and I'm very worried it will be to big r The measurements to the sizes very accurate!?!!
ReplyDeleteHi lexie, I started with a size 10 because that usually fits my shoulders well and I added to the side seams out to a 12 for the body (I usually have to go out to a 14 through the hips) so for me pattern sizes are just a starting point. Patterns do tend to come out big if you follow their measurements and its rare to be able to make a straight size and not have to alter it. The best thing to do is measure the pattern pieces themselves and compare them to your measurements to see which one would be the closest before you get started. If it is big you should be able to take it up at the shoulder seams as well as each princess seam and the sides so there are already a lot of places to ease out any extra. If the neckline is big you may want to add a few inches of little gathering to the center front to bring it in a bit, or add a center front seam. Good luck, i hope it works out well for you!
DeleteHello, I am going to be making his pattern solely because you inspired me to do so :)! I am a novice to this area however. May I ask if you kept the middle seam at the front of the dress this pattern has. If you didn't could you comment how it affected the dress?
