Marilyn Monroe Shelf Bust Wiggle Dress

Such a classic little black dress, strapless with tulle shelf bust detail, matching fabric belt. Made using a black stretch satin, nude bust lining with dotted tulle overlay.
Styled after one of Marilyn Monroe's own dresses, probably was originally silk. See below for inspiration photos :-)

Niagara Dress in Polkadots

It's not often that i get to make the same dress several times each in a different fabric or print. I must say that i love this Niagara dress design even more in dots than the solid pink that i usually use. Though maybe its just because its something different. Its a classic Marilyn Monroe dress that just screams 50s but is still very wearable today. All of these are cotton prints, the black with small red dots is a stretch poplin, the others are non-stretch. All have built in foam cups and faux button fronts with an invisible zipper up the back. My fave is the red with black dots below ;-)

Marilyn Monroe's Little Black Bubble Dress

This dress was inspired by a dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in the late 1950s, when she was filming/promoting for "Some Like it Hot''  I made a few changes to the original dress design which you can see below.  I raised the neckline at the customers request and put in a stretch mesh lining with bra cups in the bodice. I did not include the back bubble drape as i felt it was a bit too much fabric, though i did have to weight the back hem to counter the weight of the drape in the front to get an even hemline. Great little black dress with an unexpected detail. This will be available as a custom order item in my Etsy shop Morningstar84
