With the famous Birthday dress being auctioned off once again there are tons of new photos and videos all over the internet of the details and i wanted to share some of those with you guys. I have been trying to figure out the curved seam in the skirt and after talking with a number of people over on my instagram and zooming in on videos i have come to the conclusion that it ends in a dart near the high hip somewhere below and between the side dart and front dart. What once looked like a very basic shaped dress has proven to be much more detailed and clever on closer inspection. I plan to update my pattern to reflect these details soon, though will probably make some adjustments so that it is easier to alter for a range of sizes.

Finally got to make this amazing outfit! I used a green stretch satin and used pre-strung black sequins hand sewing them into the fish scale pattern, the green is then sewn to a nude bra with black fishnet and finished off with gold fringe, i bough two gold beaded appliques for the hip and added gold rhinestones, legs are finished with elastic and zips up the back, the tulle train is re-moveable as well just like the original costume, I purposefully didn't make all the sequins line up as the original had a used and altered look. I would have put the costume on a dress form but don't have one small enough with legs so a hanger had to do :-)
below pictures of the actual costume and publicity shots of Marilyn herself.

Custom request item styled after the red and gold heart bikini made and worn by Bettie Page, i used a beautiful Chinese Brocade and lined it in cotton, the cups have a light foam cup inside, halter tie and under bust tie, the bottoms have elastic at the legs and hook at the hip. Below the photos used for reference :-)
